GICs have long been a popular investment for people looking for a conservative approach. They have guaranteed principal, a fixed interest rate and are very easy to understand. As a member of the Registered Deposit Brokers Association, we are an independent deposit broker that can offer GICs from over 40 different banks, trust companies, insurance companies and credit unions.
Deposits made into guaranteed investment certificates are protected by CDIC (banks), Assuris (insurance companies), DICO (Ontario Credit Unions) or CUDIC (BC Credit Unions) against loss. Complete details of coverage amounts, limits and restrictions can be found directly on their websites.
When you purchase a GIC, there is no cost to you. We are paid a finder’s fee from the financial institution with which your investment is placed. That way we can offer rates typically better than the major banks.
